Wilderness Survival Fundamentals is a hands-on course designed to teach the core skills needed to survive and remain comfortable in a wilderness emergency. Students will learn how to locate, collect, and purify water, safely build and maintain fires in a variety of conditions, and construct effective shelters to protect themselves from the elements.
Through practical field exercises, participants will gain experience using both modern and improvised methods to meet their basic survival needs. The course emphasizes real-world skills, sound decision-making, and efficient use of available resources.
Whether you’re preparing for outdoor adventures, emergency situations, or simply want to become more self-reliant, this class provides a solid foundation in the essential skills needed for an overnight stay—or an extended period—in the wilderness.

Rescue and medical training
No Compromise Response Team
Wilderness Survival Fundamentals is an NCRT course. No Compromise Response Team trains ordinary people in wilderness medicine, rope rescue, patient movement and survival across the Midwest and Southeast.

We don’t publish the training address. Registered students and our email list receive the exact location by email before class.

Before you register
Refunds and weather
Refunds and rescheduling
Change dates for free. Move to any other Wednesday with at least 48 hours’ notice.
Cancel 7 or more days before class: full refund.
Cancel less than 7 days before class: no cash refund, but you get a credit for a future Wednesday class, good for 12 months.
No-shows without notice receive no refund or credit.
If we cancel for any reason, you choose a full refund or a free move to another Wednesday.
Weather
Class runs rain or shine. Learning to stay warm, dry and safe in bad conditions is part of the course, so dress for the forecast.
We cancel for thunderstorms or lightning, any National Weather Service warning for the training area (severe thunderstorm, tornado, flood, winter storm, extreme heat or extreme cold), ice on the roads, or hazards at the site such as flooding or downed trees.
We decide by 10:00 AM on class day and text and email every registered student.
If thunder is heard during class, we stop and take shelter until 30 minutes after the last thunder. If we end class early for safety, you may attend another Wednesday at no charge.
